Open to young flautists aged fifteen years or under on October 26th, 2025
Entrants are required to perform their own choice of contrasting works
Time limit: 8 minutes
Entry Fee: $30

David Cubbin Memorial Competition
Performance Requirements and Information:
Open to non-professional flautists aged 30 years and under on October 29th, 2025
Entrants are required to perform their own choice of contrasting works
Time limit: 15 minutes
Entry Fee: $30
Adjudicator: Kim Falconer
Prizes:
First Prize: $500
Second Prize: $250

Robert Brown Memorial Competition

Open to secondary school flautists aged 16 years and over on October 29th, 2025
Entrants are required to perform their own choice of contrasting works
Time limit: 8-11 minutes

Elder Conservatorium of Music's 'Flute Mega Day'
Join us for an unforgettable celebration of all things flute at the Elder Conservatorium Flute Mega Day!
This inspiring day of music-making brings together flutists of all ages and levels for workshops, masterclasses, performances, and the chance to play alongside some of Australia’s leading artists.
We are thrilled to welcome special guests Eliza Shephard and Kim Falconer, alongside Elder Conservatorium’s own Kathryn Moorhead and the flute section of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. Whether you’re a student, teacher, or enthusiastic amateur, this is a rare opportunity to learn, connect, and perform with the very best.
The day will be filled with guided warm-ups, ensemble rehearsals, an interactive flute workshop, a masterclass, a lively panel Q&A with the ASO flutists, and much more.
Younger players will shine in the Tutti Flutti Junior Players performance, while the day concludes with a celebratory concert featuring guest artists, ensembles, and our massed flute orchestra.

Acing Auditions Masterclass with Kathryn Moorhead
Hosted by The Flute Society of South Australia, this is an audition preparation masterclass for flute students of all ages and standards who are preparing to audition for school ensembles, or out of school hours extension education ensembles and music camps.
Students are invited to attend as players or as observers.
Players may bring pieces or excerpts they are working on.
Sightreading tips will also be covered.
