Join Jo Bridgeman for an informative introduction to flute repair and maintenance, designed for both flute teachers and students.
During this 1–1½ hour presentation, Jo will cover:
basic flute maintenance tools
simple preventative measures
ways to keep your instrument in good playing condition.
common flute problems and when an instrument may need professional attention.
The session will conclude with a Q&A, offering participants the opportunity to ask Jo about any other aspects of flute repair and maintenance.
Whether you are a teacher wanting to better support your students or a student interested in understanding and caring for your instrument, this practical session will offer valuable insights.

Artist Biography - Jo Bridgeman
Born in London, UK, Jo began learning music including recorder, voice, violin and piano at a young age. She immigrated to Australia with her family and continued her music education with an eventual scholarship to the esteemed Special Music course at Brighton High school where she also began learning the oboe. After Graduating from The Elder Conservatorium in 1996, Joanne was performing professionally as an oboist and teaching around Adelaide.
Joanne soon developed a passion for repair and took up an apprentiship with oboe maker Tony Ward. Over the next few years, she trained in woodwind manufacturing and repair in Tony's South Australian workshop. Jo refined her skills and took residency as a specialist repairer in Presto Musical Repairs, Size Music and Richard Craig Woodwind before establishing her own woodwind repair service, Joanne Bridgman - Woodwind Repair Specialist.
Jo relocated her business into the Adelaide CBD to share a workshop space on Gawler Place with Bret Gustafson of Gustafson Custom Horns. This partnership was the beginning of a special working relationship which soon included Richard Craig and BJ O'Donovan After a short relocation to the Myer Centre in Rundle Mall, Consortium Music was established by the merger of these three businesses and Joanne maintains her premium woodwind repair services as well as being the Adelaide agent for Verne Q. Powell Flutes, Pearl Flutes and more.
She continues to freelance as a professional musician on oboe and Cor Anglais.
Jo is now located in the centre of beautiful Adelaide city, meeting the passion and needs of musicians from all around the country.
